To Do: Read Proverbs 16
Focus Point: Proverbs 16:1 and 3
The NLT version says, We make our own plans, but the Lord gives the right answer. Verse 3 says, Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed.
Have you ever tried to make a plan on your own and it just did not work out until you consulted the Lord. I know I have on many occasions; It actually happened to my husband and I. We currently live in New Jersey and we decided that we were going to relocate to Las Vegas no matter what it took because we feel New Jersey is too expensive. We got our little plan together and tried to act on it and every single attempt to move fell through. The mistake that we made was that we did not take it to God in prayer to find out if it was even his will for us to move and for us to move there. I remember getting all upset about the situation and decided to go on a fast for 7 days. During the fast I really began to consult God and commit our plans to him. He informed us loud and clear that it was NOT time to move and that he had other plans for us. We were looking to move all the way across the country to Las Vegas. It would have been just the two of us with no support when most of our family was in New Jersey.
That very same week we found out that I was pregnant with our first child. See God had a plan for us and he already knew I would need my support system and that I would be in New Jersey longer. My husband and I were happy and content with God’s change of plans, but had we committed our plans to him in the beginning, we could have saved ourselves some headaches and disappointment. Always remember to seek God first as a unit concerning your plans and allow him to change them because you want to stay in his will.
